Comic Timing Episode 240 – Diamond’s Looking…Rough

There’s a whole lot of serious stuff to discuss this episode, as Ian is joined by Kris and Jamal at start, then Raph and Donovan shortly thereafter. Topics include updates on Diamond’s bankruptcy and some decisions that have been made since, including Massive Publishing and Mad Cave joining up with Lunar Valiant halting their relaunch entirely until a new distribution solution emerges, Boom heading to Penguin Random House, and Two Morrows looking for alternatives. We also discuss what could have potentially been done to avoid this fate, if there’s a way out for Diamond, and what might come next for distribution.

Then, we go into the allegations against Neil Gaiman, DC’s response, Sandman ending after Season Two, and how we as fans can discuss things like this seriously while divorcing ourselves from the author’s works. Much less seriously, we talk Batman: Caped Crusader, our reactions to James Gunn’s Superman trailer and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, Creature Commandos, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, some recent reads and more.

deadpoolhands

It’s time to make the chimichangas! Brent and Ian are joined by longtime friend of the show, and Supershow Episode veteran, Steve Katz, as they review the Rated R Superstar, Deadpool! Get ready for a pretty even-handed review of the film, as not everybody was completely thrilled with it. But some were! Two distinct opinions within with civil conversation throughout. Madness, right? Anywho, of course there’s madness! It’s Deadpool! And oh, spoilers, because duh. Then, the episode concludes with some quick talk about DC’s upcoming Rebirth.

Comic Timing – Episode 12

Well, episode 12 of Comic Timing has finally arrived, and it is a whopper at that! Derek Coward of The Deliberate Noise Network of podcasts join David and I for a nice hour and 40 minutes of discussion on comic books of the 1990’s. We specifically look into Todd McFarlane and Rob Liefeld, and whether or not they deserve the blame most people give them for the eventual fall of the speculator era of comics. Are there others to blame? Are there certain aspects of 1990’s comic books we would like to see back in comics today? Comic companies we go into incluse Valiant, Malibu, Milestone, Marvel, DC, Image, Acclaim, and a whole lot more.
