Comic Timing Episode 212 – Reading Some Balzac

Ian reconvenes the Comic Timing crew, this time consisting of Brent, Kris, Donovan and Brandon, to catch up on the last few months of comics, while also discussing some more recent goings-on. This includes the shocking death Marvel decided to reveal two weeks ahead of schedule in Amazing Spider-Man #26 (spoilers abound from 5:58-46:17), the discourse behind Frank Miller’s most recent  variant covers for Wolverine and other Marvel titles, our collective thoughts on James Gunn’s slate of DC movies and Shazam: Fury of the Gods (also spoilers from 1:31:31-1:47:27), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (slight spoilers as we start at about 1:47:28), and a very in-depth and spoilery convo about Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 (1:57:06-2:48:30). Then some recent reads to wrap us up! Also the title of this episode will make more sense once you listen, we swear.

Comic Timing Extra Point – Episode 9

ScarletWitch

Extra Point time! Kris and I go over the Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe TV Special that aired this past Tuesday on ABC. We discuss how this special stood out from the typical promotional material included on DVDs and whatnot, what was revealed about Marvel Studios’ past and future, the strengths and shortcomings that come with having a team movies like The Avengers, meandering into old school X-Men crossovers, and more. A good solid thirty minutes of content! Oh, and here’s a direct link to the Guess Who? research video Kris brought up near the end of the show. Enjoy!

Comic Timing – Episode 152

lego-will-arnett-batman-600

According to Brent, this episode is titled, “The Back-Up Plan: The All Bitching Episode.” Although we do a lot more than just bitch, I promise. Brent and I are joined by Mr. Raphael Soohoo as we discuss The Flash’s new TV outfit, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the season so far (including the Sif episode), The Lego Movie, Brent’s review of Justice League: War, the official cancellation of Beware The Batman!, the announcement of the Arkham Knight game, my thoughts on Fables: The Worlf Among Us, and plenty more. We also review some comics, including Forever Evil #6, Superman/Wonder Woman #6 both She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel #1, Secret Avengers, Image Comics’ Zero and some other stuff here and there.

As a warning, there was a chirping noise that kept recurring throughout the recording. We couldn’t trace the source, so it’s there throughout. I did my best to get rid of it whenever possible, but it’s still there occasionally. Shouldn’t be too loud or annoying, I swear! Also, next week we should be joined by Sean and Jim of Raging Bullets, as due to power outages we had to push their episode back a week. So barring any other weird weather, it shall be done!
