Comic Timing Episode 225: August 2024 Previews

Raph, Ian and Murd gather round the mics to discuss books mainly set for October 2024 release. Catalogs discussed include Image Catalog Issue 14, DC Connect issue 51, Marvel Previews Vol 6 issue 35, and Diamond Previews issue 431. Just a note that this one is a little less polished than most Previews episodes when referring to the edit itself, as Ian just got back from Florida and we wanted to make sure you had plenty of time to make your picks and run through the catalog. So apologies if there’s a bit more pausing and page noises than usual! Highlights include the launch of DC All-In/Absolute line, Dynamite’s Terminator series, a new Blade book, James Robinson’s return to Dark Horse, Storm’s first ongoing series, some Korean manga, plenty of Arnold voice, and so much more!

Comic Timing Episode 224 – SDCC News & Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Review

We’re back, and there’s TONS to discuss! Donovan, Jamal, Brent, Raph, Brandon and Kris join Ian to go through a whole bunch of San Diego Comic Con news, including the return of the DC Bullet logo, DC’s Absolute Comics line, Mark Waid and Dan Mora on Justice League Unlimited, Jeff Lemire on Justice Society, Ram V’s Fourth World, and of course, Marvel’s Hall H announcements for Fantastic Four: First Steps and the shaky cam footage we totally didn’t watch we swear, and the Doctor Doom Downey Jr. reveal. Then, we pivot to an in-depth and spoilery review of the long awaited third movie in the Deapool franchise, Deadpool & Wolverine (starts at 1:11:00). Finally, a discussion of Roy Thomas’ claim that his editorial assistance has earned him a creator credit on Wolverine. SNIKT, bub. Plus some Creature Commandos talk and THE WAR WHEEEEEEEL!

Comic Timing Extra Point – Episode 13: Consolidating Comics with F.O.R.C.E.

FORCE

It’s been a while, but we’re back in style! Yes, that is a Chipmunks quote. Anyway, we’re up to lucky number 13 on the Comic Timing Extra Point. This episode, Ian runs solo for the first half, as he discusses selling off a bunch of his comic collection at Wild Pig Comics in Kenilworth, New Jersey two weeks back. Much thanks to Wild Pig’s owner, the talented Chris Eberle of Comic Geek Speak, for making that magic happen! There’s also some discussion of the transition from physical copies to going mostly digital, manga scanlations and why you should either wait for official release or hit the library over turning to the dark side of the Internet, and then a quick review of Southern Bastards Volume 1 by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour.

After that, we transition to the one and only interview Ian conducted at the 2015 edition of New York Comic Con, with the one and only Shawn Pryor. Shawn discusses what it’s like to return to New York City after a twenty year hiatus, what’s next in store for Cash & Carrie post-Kickstarter, and his newest miniseries coming out of Action Lab Entertainment in 2016, F.O.R.C.E. It ain’t Super Pro, yo!

Comic Timing – Episode 149

AdamAndComfort

Episode 149 of Comic Timing is now out to close out 2013 with a bang! Ian and Brent are joined by Comfort Love and Adam Withers, creators of Rainbow in the Dark (now available in “Complete Saga” form on Amazon, Instock Trades, DCBS, and hopefully at your local comic shop), The Uniques, and a couple of other projects that still to come. They discuss what it’s like having Rainbow available via Diamond, how much work is to create a hype machine for yourself both digitally and in person, how collected edition can sell to existing fans of a work, and a whole lot more. We also talk comic news and casual conversation, including Terry Moore’s troubles with Rachel Rising, Ian’s love of X-Men: Battle of the Atom, Brent’s experience with the new Batman: Arkham Origins digital comic, a review of Justice League 300 #1, and some of the cool stuff Ian found overseas during his trip to Tokyo.
