Comic Timing – Episode 33: New York Comic Con Wrap Up

The first wrap-up podcast is here! This show was recorded live at New York Comic Con 2007, with a whole bunch of guests. Raph in person! Sean and Jim in person! Freddie E Williams II, artist of Robin! Molly Crabapple, co-creator of Dr. Sketchys Rainy Day Coloring Book! Fat Momma and Feedback from Who Wants To Be a Superhero! Dave Wachter of Scar Tissue, and Uncle Sal himself! Plenty of fun recording the interviews, and a great time to be had in general. Later this week, I will be recording a full con wrapup and review with Sean, Freddie, and Raph, so there is more con content to come.

  • Comic Timing – Episode 29

Episode 29 is finally here! It took two false starts, an encroachment and a holding penalty to get this one done, but we did it, even it took three days to record. This week, Brent Kossina, and Raph Soohoo, alias Wraithmaker on the forums, author of the Bulleteer Madness Column for Raging Bullets, stop on by to discuss DC Comics in the year 2006. Did they do a better job than Marvel? What titles left us going booyah, and which titles left us going dear God why must this exist? All that and a bag of chips on this one, plus a boatload of bloopers and insanity contained within, so listen to it, and hopefully you shall enjoy!

As always, you can e-mail Comic Timing at comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for Comic Timing on Podcast Alley, and give us a Digg over at Digg.com.

I hope the New Year is treating everybody well, and that 2007 continues to do so for all out there. Also, thanks for listening for the past 29 episodes, and thanks as always for downloading!

    Comic Timing – Episode 28

Episode 28 of Comic Timing has finally hit the stands! Figuratively of course, since this is a podcast, not a comic book. John Mayo, Brent Kossina, and myself go into a Year End Wrap Up of Marvel Comics this week, as we discuss our favorite titles, some that did not quite hit the spot, and some that we are looking to improve a bit more as 2007 rolls around. This episode is almost entirely edit free as a holiday treat, so you get to hear Comic Timing in its raw form for once. Hopefully it will indeed be a treat, and if not, let me know and I will not do it again, deal?

    Comic Timing – Episode 27

Episode 27 of Comic Timing is finally here. Apologies for the delay in getting this one out, as it was a busy weekend, and I had little time to sit down and edit. But alas, it is indeed here! This episode, Brent Kossina, knightwingbk on the CGS forum, John Mayo of The Mayo Report, and Matt Sommer of Thats What She Said join myself for a conversation on parallel universes in comic books. We touch on What If, Elseworlds, DC and their Parallel Universes, The Ultimate Universe, Heroes Reborn, and plenty more where that came from. Plus, we read some forum comments, and explain in further detail Rob Liefeld and his unsolicited landscape pages for Hawk and Dove, which I first discovered over at Comic Book Urban Legends Revealed. So yes, plenty of great stuff, and thanks to the guys for joining in!

This week, Comic Timing presents the second installment of our 22 Pages Reviews, which also happens to be Part One of our Confidential Crossover with Raging Bullets! Sean and Jim join Matt and I to discuss Superman Confidential #1, cover to cover. We discuss the large amount of advertisements found inside the book, and whether or not it effected our reading experience negatively, differences in the Tim Sale style in comparison to his previous Superman work, and whether or not Kryptonite can talk.. Also, Sean stumbles onto an interesting find on Wikipedia, Jim talks about blind squirrels, and Matt waxes poetic about 3D glasses. Oh, and we talk about the book too. Good times!

Part 1 of our 25th Episode celebration has been released, and it is in the form of our second Rogues Gallery segment! Damian Smith of The Furnace joins myself as we discuss one of Marvel Comics most powerful and maniacal villains…Dr. Doom. We discuss everything from what led him down the path to villainy, where he is now, and where he may go in the future. It is a great discussion, and well worth the listen, so listen in!

As always, you can e-mail questions and comments to comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for us on Podcast Alley. Also, please let me know what you think of the site redesign, as I feel it looks much more professional now.

Anyway, enjoy the Rogues Gallery, see you later in the week for Episode 25, and thanks as always for downloading!

    Comic Timing – Episode 24

Hey guys. Here is the latest episode focusing on Comic book animation. Matt S. stops on by for the first hour or so, back from his week off, and he has plenty to say on the subject. And that is not all. We also have Bruce Rosenberger, one of the stars of the fantastic Komicskast and the terrific Comics Podcast Crossover! Bruce joins in at around the five minute mark, and is there until the episode is over. We discuss our favorite comic book animations, where the business may be going in the future, what Marvel can do to improve their animation ventures, some animation that has not aged well and some that has, and plenty more.

My thanks to Bruce for joining us, and my thanks to The New York Comic Con for sponsoring the show. If you would like to send Comic Timing an e-mail, you can do so at our e-mail address, comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for us over at Podcast Alley.

Thanks to everybody for listening, and see you folks back here next week for another brand spanking new episode!
